Laura, seen here in the pink dress, was the first born child to Larry & Phyllis Maguire on 13 December 1969 and was elder sister to Deirdre, Laurence, Elizabeth & Claire. Laura was a healthy happy child, went to school, played with her school friends and did all the things children love to do.
At 6 years of age Laura developed a serious illness which took her back and forth to Temple Street Children’s Hospital for six months and ultimately ended her life in the early hours of Monday 21 March 1977. Equipment at that time was not available in Ireland and successful diagnosis was never fully made. The actual cause of illness was not revealed, although an aneurysm was suspected.
We believe all spirits enter this world with a purpose and Laura’s purpose is to inspire this organisation and all that it touches to greater growth and expansion of consciousness and human potential. Through cultivation and development of wellbeing in children and young adults, we aim to give them the tools to change this world, to create a better place.
This existence of ours is as transient as autumn clouds. To watch the birth and death of beings is like looking at the movements of a dance. A lifetime is a flash of lightning in the sky. Rushing by, like a torrent down a steep mountain. – Gautama Buddha
