Training continued this week for myself and Steven which includes a lot of time on the bike in the last few weeks. We have The Race Donegal coming up in 2 weeks in Donegal. It consists of 260km total distance which includes the following; Stage 1 – Run (22km) Gartan Adventure Center to Lough Swilly Stage […]
Today’s Training Today worked out good. I managed to hit a 1RM on the Snatch 63kg, and the Clean & Jerk 80kg. I was especially happy with the Clean & Jerk considering I struggled to Clean 75kg a couple of weeks previous. I am definitely getting stronger and seeing the benefit in my running pace. […]
Stability is helped greatly by this and all other types of lifting and can feel great benefit from it already. Lifting shoes are on the shopping list and will help with technique a fair bit I imagine.
Back into the Crossfit gym this am at 06:30 for an oul session. Weight on the squat increased this morning to 100% of Front Squat. I’m working off 130kg Back Squat which translates to 104kg Front Squat. This was a big test which I handled pretty well until the second Front Squat of the 5th […]
Today’s sessions represented a bit of a test. Crossfit session was at 06:30 am followed by a day’s graft and a planned 16 miles in the evening. I knew I had to do it so no resistance was offered, in fact I was looking forward to seeing how the evening session would go.

This morning I crept up to 90kg on the squat and felt comfortable, next week the reps are lower so I have an opportunity to get the weight up to 100kg. I was also happy to get my first double under which I was very chuffed with.
When I started Crossfit about 5 months ago I was a total newbie and that can be intimidating, but I had to say fuck it, and just keep moving into it. You become familiar with time and with familiarity comes progress. Don’t get too familiar though or you be on your arse, or worse, get […]
Getting into an organised event regularly is a great way to train. It puts you in a very different state of mind in the lead up and on the day. You want to do well, the best you can and it’s an opportunity to test yourself against others. But what ever you do, do not […]
Our world is full of people seeking convenience and life is not convenient. That’s not to say it must be hard either, we are the ones that make it hard by virtue of our incessant pursuit of convenience. Marathon running is a metaphor for life and we can master of lives if we are willing […]
